The bench around the Oak tree on the Village Green has sadly become too small for the size of the tree. Growth of the tree trunk over the past 5 years means that the bench is now rubbing against the tree trunk and this is causing damage to the tree. Additionally the bench is allowing rubbish and leaves to accumulate behind and under it, which further softens the bark. The most recent tree inspection highlighted these concerns and recommended the removal of the bench. The full tree report can be found here.

To prevent further damage and long term risk to the tree, the bench will be removed this weekend and relocated elsewhere at a later date. A new straight bench will be ordered for the Village Green.
